Cronometer is a free calorie tracker available in the App Store and Google Play.

The app UI (User Interface) is very simple and easy to understand. Great for beginners.

Here‘s The Basics:

  1. User Interface Basics

When you open the Cronometer, a navigation bar will be at the bottom of the page.

You will focus on these sections outlined.

Diary:

This is where you track everything you eat, all exercises, your body measurements (weight, etc.)

Foods: Here, you create any custom recipes.

Let’s say you make lasagna. You can manually enter in the recipe to Cronometer and it will save it for future use.

You can also add custom portion sizes, it will adjust all macronutrients accordingly. Learn More

2. Add To Diary

Now it’s time to start tracking. Click the plus button…

This will bring up a menu where you can choose what you are adding to your daily log.

“Add Food”: Clicking this will bring you to the huge library of foods that Cronomter has with nutritional values all filled out. Just search your food, select the right one, add a portion size, and add it. Learn More

“Scan Food”: If you don’t want to scroll through columns and columns to find your food, just scan the bar code, the app will automatically regocnise it.

“Add Note”: This can be used to just add a detail or a reminder. I like to use it to sort which food I ate for which meals.

“Add Biometric”: This is to add any body details. For example: weight, arm size, heart rate, blood pressure, sleep, and mood. Learn More

“Add Exercise”: Here you can add any exercise you did, such as resistance training, cardio of any kind, stretches, sports, and many more. Learn More

“Well, where can I see what I’ve tracked?”

Diary!

Cronometer Displays all the foods, exercise, and biometrics you’ve added that day in a menu in the diary. Along with a slideable widget where you can see all your macronutrients and total calories for the day.

Quick Tools:

  • Click the “Today” button to see a calendar and go back to previous or future days.
  • Change fitness goals, such as gaining or losing weight by going to “Settings”, and “Targets”.
  • Go to “Settings”, and “Connect Apps & Devices” to connect apps like Fitbit, and Apple Health App.
  • The “Home” tab is kind of like your dashboard. You can see all your data and progress in charts, from the past weeks, months, and years.
